race weekend 2012 – 10k – fail. it’s gonna take me a couple of weeks to get over this. truth be told – my goal <55min. i was 2 full minutes off my goal. i’m pretty pissed at myself. and that’s an understatement.

had i kept a 5:30min/km pace … like i trained for … i would have finished at 55:00min. MY GOAL!!! So frustrating.
what went wrong:
1. didn’t have carbs since 10am.
2. not enough water during the day.
3. no protein shake before the run.
4. the playlist i thought i made wasn’t made.
5. there was supposed to be water each 3km’s – there wasn’t – i would have worn water.
6. my ear buds both broke by the 5th kilometre – i couldn’t hear the cheers.
7. i started out the gate too fast and didn’t hold to my 5:30min/km pace.
8. didn’t bandaid up my toes so i ended the race with a blood pool in my shoe.
what went right:
1. i finished.
2. i ate at the end and that probably helped my stomach.
3. i picked myself up when i just couldn’t do it anymore and finished.
bottom line – 57:00.9 – Personal Best.
however, i will make this promise/gaurantee – the BEST IS YET TO COME!
i’ve said my bit.
