January gets an A+ so far!
once again … this time of year … i’m sick. not sure what exactly i do each year to make this happen but once again, it’s birthday/trip time and i’m too sick to enjoy it.
it’s been an exciting month so far!
Sharon – signed up for the 10K winterman and 10K Race Weekend. With Greco/kids/life I don’t have time to train for the half this year. So … 10K’s it is! Maybe come Army Run I’ll have more time, but considering my kids are home for the summer … I doubt it. Instead, I’m gonna focus on a fast 10K. Not just a complete. My best yet – 58:44 at the Resolution Run 2011.
Hannah – She’s turning 6 in 2 days! WOW! Is it she’s old, I’m old, or we’re both growing up! The latter for sure. She’s such a little princess. I couldn’t be more proud! She’s generous, caring, sharing, and a smartie pants! Even last night, we hit up Chapters/Starbucks with her presents and she was insistent that we share the gift cards with Jakey and Ella. Also, she completed the Little Reader’s Program at Oxford! WOW! Now she’s moved on to incorporating French and grade school material. Pretty darn cool.
Jakey – He’s a hockey bum now! ALL day/night – hockey hockey hockey! Unreal. Where did my football loving kid go? He’s now 4 and a half years old and seems the same as Hannah. He’s on par with her for size, ability, and almost smarts. They get a long so well!
So Hannah’s 6th B-day party went well! 11 girls – lots of crafts, lots of toys, and lots of manicures! Not to mention the birthday cupcakes were incredible! Then Ella and Olwen stayed to watch the Smurfs movie … Then Ella stayed for a sleepover. This morning Ella, Hannah, Jakey, I, and we picked up Sydney went to Cora’s – YUMMY!
And now that it’s over … I have to start packing. Hard to do when you’re not feeling up to par. However, I know once I’m down in the sun, the cold will go away instantly right? Fingers crossed! I have today/tomorrow/Tuesday to get better. I love a good challenge
This -26ish weather really isn’t helping at all. It’s so frustrating. I just get mad/angered when I walk outside. Oh well – it’s winter.
So I’ve stepped up my Greco game! Started going to more classes, as well as eating weird meals. I hate to say it but I’m addicted! Sad but true facts. I’m not hitting the scale or Body Fat % machines anymore, now I can just tell. It’s pretty cool! I highly recommend it for anyone!
Also, I managed to organize the plethora of photos I have! I got them all up on Flickr – http://www.flickr.com/photos/onefineandthreebegins/collections/ … I still have more organizing to do but it’s a start. I still have more photos to upload – they are coming … soon … From now on I’m going to be more organized! I promise!
Ok, enough procrastinating, I’m going to pack … later … maybe tomorrow.
Sharon
resolutions are just not my style. plain and simple.
So I don’t believe in resolutions – what I believe in is trying something new, changing a bad habit, and striving to be better!
For instance, in 2010 – I ran 77km. I wanted to run more in 2011. In 2011 I ran 770km. Strived to be better!
For instance, in 2010 – I was so run over with kids stuff I had no time to myself. In 2011 I joined a gym and now I have time away for me almost every day. Changed a bad habit.
For instance, in 2010 – I ran a couple of 5km’s. In 2011 I ran 2 half-marathons. Tried something new!
So with that said, for 2012 I’d …
a) like to try a Spartan Race – http://www.spartanrace.com/ottawa-obstacle-racing-spartan-sprint-2012.html
b) post a decent run time (ie. <55min for 10k, <2hr for 1/2)
c) finish some awesome projects around the house
d) try and ‘keep up my looks’ … i.e.. put more time into what I look like – less Lulu’s and more pants that have buttons
e) try and ‘keep up my kids looks’ … i.e. pay more attention/time/effort to what my kids look like.
f) start to volunteer in much larger aspects of the community – such as the Canadian Cancer Society.
g) … and lots more

*I’ve been off the red meat now for almost 2 months – pretty kinda cool.
*I’ll write more after I get my house/life a bit more organized! … eesh.

tags … i’m back with ‘em!
tagging … i’m learning how – but it’s slow.
so i’m going to mention a couple of things then tag this. maybe that will help me get organized/write/update more. as well, for now i’m going to tag and use the tag as a bold title. it will help me get the hang of this.
Jakey
He’s becoming a sweet little boy! So smart
I know I say that because I’m his mom, but it’s true. He recently started to read … and now he started adding and taking away! He’s 4. Well, he’s my 4 year old. He’s doing skating right now and I’m so proud of him. It’s something he isn’t very good at naturally and he’s still giving it his all! It’s one thing to do something you’re good at, it’s another thing to do something that is really tough for you – and still do it week after week. Way to go Jakey! His JK/SK is also going pretty good. He’s learning a bit of french and some pattern work. So far it’s been a lot of review but I think they’ll start on new stuff soon.
Hannah
She’s turning 16. At least that’s what it feels like. She’s definitely coming into her own. As well with the skating – she’s doing incredible! It doesn’t come naturally to her, but she goes and goes … her incentive – the play girls hockey in kanata next year. All the parties, team stuff, and wonderful things that come with the hockey is totally what she wants! She just needs a bit more confidence on the ice. Ok, so she found this crazy great new series – My Weirder School – by Dan Gutman. Super funny! I and her recommend it!
Running
My new goal – 10K in 55min. Or around there
I’ll be running the new years eve run and I’m hoping by then, with strength training, sprints, intervals, and hills – that I can make 55min. No more ridiculous long runs for a while. It’s too hard on my body. Two half marathons in 1 month … I felt that toll. Bigtime. So it’s 10k’s for me until next Race Weekend – then I’m soooo doing the half
Hopefully the Greco will help with that!
Greco
I’m in love! I’m going to share my Greco experience here. I’ve created a new page with all the details. Too much for one post! Bottom line – I LOVE it. It’s perfect, for me!
What We’ve Been Up To
Friday – Hannah played at Lindsay’s/Jakey went to Jen’s in the AM and I went to a Greco class, both had school in the AFT, Moxies for dinner, then Hannah went to the Selena Gomez Concert and Jakey played at Tom’s house.
Saturday – Hannah had Charlotte’s B-Day party at Pinto Valley Ranch, then it was a relaxing night which included a run for me, and a night full of organizing
Sunday – I went to a Greco class and Hannah had Cheerleading. Then Charlotte and Lindsay came over to play with Hannah, and Nik came to play with Jakey, and Sasha came to keep me company
After that it was all football!
Photos
Bye bye Mobile Me Gallery. The only negative thing about this new cloud is that the Mobile Me Gallery will be cancelled. So Flickr it is! I’ve started transferring but it’s gonna take a LOOOOONG while! But the page is updated … Tags, all about the tags …
That’s it for now! I promise to be (yeah yea yeah ) more diligent in the updates and the photos!
Cheers,
Sharon
